Screwed up the other night. Tate finished his homework and was sitting at the table asking me how to spell different words. "Sitting" got my attention. I asked what he was spelling. He said he was making business cards for a dog sitting business idea he had. Sure enough he had 3x5 cards filled out, ready to go. I rolled my eyes and did my best to explain to him how we weren't at the house all day to watch dogs. He said he really wanted to make some extra money. I told him that not everyone wants to bring their dog over and pay for someone to watch it. It was kinda breaking his capitalistic little heart. I suggested he do another lemonade stand. "But that won't make enough money Dad." Keep in mind he is six. He doesn't have much need for piles of cash. I took the opportunity to explain that life is not all about money, and it's not money that will make him happy. For a second I felt like I had taught him a good life lesson. Then he dropped the bomb on me. "I know Dad, i'm trying to make money for you and Mom to go to El Salvador so you can tell them about Jesus."
He got a good long tear filled hug,............................... and then some help filling out his business cards.

 Anyone need a dog sitter?
